Quadros Systems Adds Network Security Suite to RTXC Quadnet TCP/IP software

Ensures that Internet data is free of snooping, spoofing or modification

ESC Booth # 924

Boston, MA, 2004 ESC Boston - September 13, 2004 - Quadros Systems, Inc., a leading supplier of configurable and scaleable real-time operating systems (RTOS), today announced the availability of an advanced network security suite for its RTXC Quadnet TCP/IP software that includes IPsec, Internet Key Exchange (IKE) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocols. As more and more devices are connected to the Internet they become vulnerable to malicious attacks or unwanted intrusion by hackers. These encryption/decryption protocols ensure that data transmitted across an unsecured network such as the Internet, can be free of snooping, spoofing, or modification of any kind.

These advanced protocols are add-on modules to the RTXC Quadnet TCP/IP suite of networking software for embedded applications. Written from the ground up for the needs of embedded developers, this high-performance software is zero copy from the application all the way through the driver, increasing processing speed and system efficiency. RTXC Quadnet TCP/IP software is fully RFC-compliant so it can be deployed in any Internet-connected device with full confidence of interoperability.

“TCP/IP software is the number one add-on feature request from our customers,” said Tom Barrett, president of Quadros Systems, Inc. “However, since connectivity brings a risk of data exposure and malicious activity, providing additional security has become critical to providing a reliable solution. We have therefore integrated security sotware into our RTXC Quadnet networking software development package.”

The network security suite meets a number of specific needs:

  • SSL is used at the application level to negotiate a secure channel between a client and a server. Once the channel is established, data can be exchanged privately and safely. Combined with application software such as HTTP server, SSL can enable secure transactions.
  • IPsec is a set of extensions to the IP protocol family providing authentication, integrity, and confidentiality. Unlike SSL, which provides security services over TCP/IP, IPsec provides security services at the network layer and is transparent to IP applications.
  • IKE, used with IPsec, negotiates the properties of security associations between peers. It supports pre-shared Key, DSA and RSA signatures authentication methods. Together, RTXC Quadnet IPsec and IKE support a wide range of encryption algorithms including DES, 3DES, BLOWFISH, CAST, AES (RIJNDAEL) and TWOFISH.

By integrating these capabilities into the RTXC Quadnet TCP/IP software, Quadros has opened the door for developers to readily design highly connected solutions into applications ranging from factory automation and building controls to portable consumer electronics.

Price and Availability

RTXC Quadnet security protocols are available for immediate shipment. The price for the SSL module starts at $8,000 for a single project license. The combined IPsec/IKE solution starts at $36,000. Each security protocol requires licensing of a basic implementation of RTXC Quadnet TCP/IP software.
